Hop on your bike because we’re headed back to Derry, and this time it’s not to hang out with the Losers Club. This time we’re getting an IT prequel, baby! If you’ve watched IT: Chapter One (2017) and IT: Chapter Two (2019), then you know how great both films are and you’ll understand why we’re so excited to see more of this story come to life in HBO’s Welcome to Derry.

The exciting part of this series is that Bill Skarsgård is set to return as Pennywise the Clown! His terrifying portrayal in both It: Chapter One and It: Chapter Two still haunts audiences to this day and it was announced via Deadline that Skarsgård is set to return. This is also the second time that Skarsgård has been in a show set in the world of Stephen King after having starred in the show Castle Rock.

The idea of watching PG-13 horror movies, for some people, is like pulling teeth. PG-13 horror films might be limited in scares or gore, and while they can be the perfect gateway to horror for younger folks, for adults it seems less than fun to sit through a scary movie that’s bloodless or toned-down.

Does that mean all PG-13 horror isn’t worth watching as an adult? Of course not! There are some amazingly fun horror films that veer away from R-rated content. Keep scrolling for some of the best PG-13 horror movies of all time.

A Quiet Place: Day One has been slowly giving us looks into the new film in the world of A Quiet Place. And getting to see Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn facing off in the apocalypse at the start of it all!

John Krasinski, the same man who gave us Jim in The Office, helped give us A Quiet Place in 2018—a post-apocalyptic horror movie that didn’t do everything we’d normally expect from a horror film. While many scary movies involve flailing all over the place and screaming your ass off, this movie was, as the title suggests, quiet. It was a world where you couldn’t make any noise without dying. And horror fans became captivated by the performances, especially from Krasinski—who I never personally pictured in a horror movie, let alone co-writing and directing one.

Invincible Season 2

Let’s be honest: adult animated series aren’t always that compelling or thought-provoking. More often than not, they’re built around shitty jokes, potentially offensive scenes, and stale plots. Invincible isn’t that kind of series, and Robert Kirkman is a talented guy. Season 1 introduced us to an array of characters and didn’t hold back on the realistic depictions of violence and chaos. We’re not in the land of family-friendly Marvel movies and TV shows, and Invincible season 2 is bound to be nuttier than ever for Mark Grayson, a.k.a. Invincible (voiced by Steven Yeun).

The last time we saw Mark and his mother, they were dealing with the pain of Nolan (voiced by J.K. Simmons) embracing his Viltrumite destiny (which is very much rooted in colonialism) and beating the hell out of his own son. Who knows what they’ll pull from the comics next? Here’s what we do know about the upcoming season (so far).

The original Pet Sematary story follows Louis Creed, a doctor who moves his family to rural Maine. When their young son Gage is hit and killed by a truck, Louis can’t resist burying him in the hidden pet cemetery—where things have a habit of not staying dead. Louis learns about the cemetery from his elderly neighbor, Jud Crandall, played in the 1989 movie by Fred Gwynne and in the 2019 remake by John Lithgow. Young Jud is the main character in Bloodlines, and he’s played by Jackson White:

Flanagan has made several popular Netflix horror series, and the passion he has for the genre is perfectly displayed in The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, and Midnight Mass. Netflix has finally revealed the first full trailer for The Fall of the House of Usher, which arrives on October 12. Created by Marling and frequent collaborator Zal Batmanglij, the series stars Corrin as an amateur sleuth investigating the titular incident.

FX has released the official trailer for A Murder at the End of the World, the new series from Marling and Batmanglij—the duo behind The OA, Sound of My Voice, and The East. Marling also stars in the series opposite Corrin, who plays amateur sleuth and hacker Darby Hart, one of eight guests invited to a billionaire’s remote retreat. The holidays are a time for reflection or, in the case of slashers, for bloody carnage. Slashers set during a specific holiday are usually a real treat. Instead of characters having fun and enjoying themselves, they are forced to flee for their lives—a feeling plenty of folks can relate to, especially at Thanksgiving time. Eli Roth‘s Thanksgiving is set during the titular holiday, and turkey won’t be the only thing that’s slashed. Here’s everything we know about Roth’s latest horror movie so far.

What is Thanksgiving about?

Thanksgiving is based on a fake trailer Eli Roth directed for Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s Grindhouse. It centers on a serial killer whose goal upon slashing his way through a Massachusetts town is to make a carving board out of the bodies. Also, the killer’s name is John Carver. Yes, you read that correctly, my fellow horror fan. The concept alone is very bonkers, but that’s what we’ve come to expect from Roth, director of Hostel and The Green Inferno.

That’s all well and good, but sometimes playing as a very cute cat in a dystopian world is the vibe. Stray is the highly acclaimed sci-fi adventure game from Annapurna Interactive about a cat navigating a dystopian city filled with robots. It’s an incredibly heartfelt and compelling exploration of environmental issues. So the fact that Annapurna Animation is developing an animated film adaptation is fantastic news.

Sometimes live action isn’t the best choice for an adaptation, especially for a story that began as animation. In fact, it can be downright dreadful if it’s not executed properly. The story of Stray is perfect for animation, not only because it started as a video game, but because it holds so many possibilities in regard to animation style. Imagine how the city, which was inspired by Hong Kong’s Kowloon Walled City, will look in an animated film!

The end is nigh for Attack on Titan, and it’s bittersweet, especially for longtime fans of the adaptation and manga. It’s been a heartbreaking and shocking final season to say the least, with various deaths and revelations. Eren Yeager’s decision to begin the Rumbling to eradicate the rest of the world is terrifying, and will have major ramifications in the AoT universe. Regardless, Attack on Titan‘s story is slowly approaching, like the Titans upon the rest of the world. Here’s everything we know so far about Attack on Titan: The Final Chapters – Part 2.

What is the series finale of Attack on Titan about?

The last time we saw the remaining few characters, they finally reached the point of no return. We witnessed the tragic death of Hange Zoë, as well her reunion with fallen friends in the afterlife. After so much sacrifice and loss, stopping Eren at any cost is the goal. What that means is up to Mikasa, Armin, and the others who are set on stopping the Rumbling. So the final episode will focus on whether Eren lives to see another day or is killed. And the emotional weight a decision like that carries will surely be explored.

So buckle up fans, this is everything we know about American Horror Stories season 3—so far.

What is American Horror Stories season 3 about?

The third season is set to be part of Hulu’s Halloween event—Huluween—and will have just four episodes. Previous episodes of American Horror Stories have focused on the Murder House, social media toxicity, gaslighting, and much more. So what will the episodes for this upcoming season be about? No details have been revealed thus far and the season is still under some pretty tight wraps. It would be timely and pretty cool if the focus is on Halloween traditions and other folklore surrounding it.

The simple answer is that the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) would rather lose hundreds of millions of dollars than pay writers and actors fairly. And while studios and television networks are required to pay residuals to guild members, the world of streaming is more nebulous. Case in point: Supernatural creator Eric Kripke recently revealed that he has not received any residuals since his long-running series landed on Netflix.

In an interview with Deadline, Kripke said,

Exploring the stories of The Walking Dead characters post-series finale was a wise move for AMC as far as profits are concerned. Fans of the TWD universe will follow their favorites almost anywhere, especially crossing the pond to Paris with beloved zombie hunter Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus). The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is the second spinoff involving a major character from the flagship series, following this summer’s The Walking Dead: Dead City. Immediately, I questioned how Daryl ended up in Paris and what that would look like for him (given he doesn’t speak or understand French). Naturally, it’s all explained in a series of flashbacks.

Daryl has undergone an extreme metamorphosis as a character since his introduction in “Tell It to the Frogs”, season 1, episode 3 of The Walking Dead which premiered all the way back in 2010. He was introduced as crass, ignorant, and stuck in a co-dependent relationship with his brother Merle (Michael Rooker). But by the end of TWD, he’s a chosen uncle, taking care of Judith Grimes (Cailey Fleming) and RJ Grimes (Antony Azor). Did anyone expect Daryl to ally himself with two nuns and a young boy they claim is special? Most certainly not, and yet that’s what Daryl Dixon is about.
